Senior Software Engineer - Ads Marketplace

The ads marketplace team selects the ads that show on Twitter: each and every of billions of ads per day. We’re responsible for the results of those ads. We balance user experience, advertiser results, and Twitter revenue. Our team emphasizes applied methods that deliver impact proven via rigorous experimentation. We’re a team that craves having impact on Twitter’s ad products at scale.
What You’ll Do:
We’re looking for a key individual contributor to drive our ad products forward. You will improve results, build new features, and ship new products -- products that are new not only to Twitter but to the entire ads landscape. You will build high-quality software at scale, experiment, make data-driven decisions, optimize for impact, predict user behavior, forecast advertiser outcomes.
Your team will empower you with the autonomy to make good product decisions, design the economics of Twitter’s products and internal ad auction, and ship well-engineered code. You’ll own significant projects end-to-end. The small teams of talented, passionate people in which you’ll work will include engineers and data scientists from across the revenue engineering organization: the ads marketplace team works on every high-priority ads project at Twitter.
Who You Are:
You’re an engineer with a track record of delivering results. You’re looking to join a strong, high-performing team. You choose to work as a software engineer, but can wear the hat of a data scientist, analyst, and product manager as necessary. You have diverse interests and past experiences, having worked in areas such as scalable machine learning, relevance, ranking, data mining, experimentation, measurement, statistics, and auction theory.
We collaborate with our ad platform team to dynamically trade-off accuracy and latency for ad engagement prediction
We segment users by usage to optimize different ad-load strategies to maximize long-term user engagement with minimal impact to Twitter revenue
We build new ways to buy advertising results up-front, predicting campaign outcomes in our marketplace up to months in advance
We build conversion models to optimize our ad products for advertisers’ key results
We build budget pacing strategies to optimize our advertisers bids for results
We add features to our ads engineering experimentation framework to measure lift in advertiser ROI

Engineering Hiring Process
Once your application is received, a recruiter will reach out pending your qualifications are a match for the role.
If your background is a match, you may have 1-2 technical phone interviews or be given the chance to provide a work sample depending on the role.
If the phone interviews go well or your work sample is strong, the final step includes interviews with 5-6 people held onsite in our office.
