Product Design Director - Discovery

This role is based in San Francisco, CA, with team members in New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Twitter is looking for a Product Design Director to join our team, to lead design across all our Discovery products, including Explore, Search, Trends, Moments, Topics, and News.

Who We Are:

Our Discovery team is creating completely new ways to follow the news, connect with your interests, and see what’s trending on Twitter. There is so much happening on Twitter, but it can be hard to find. The Discovery team’s goal is to connect everyone with the right conversations, people, and content at the right time.

Who You Are:

We’re looking for someone with many years of experience leading teams and designing digital products and services on web and mobile. The right candidate is comfortable thinking about long term product vision as they are at guiding pixel perfect execution. As a member of the Twitter Design team, you’ll work closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Designers and Researchers to make Twitter a cohesive, fun, and simple product experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and grow our Discovery design team.

  • Design Direction of Twitter’s Discovery products, including the Explore tab, Search, and all Discovery experiences across the Twitter apps and websites.

  • Define the long-term vision for discovering new content on Twitter.

  • Develop strategies for Discovery on Twitter by working with partner teams, collaborating with Product and Engineering Managers, and working closely with Research.

  • Help us create a cohesive experience across Twitter by working closely with Designers and Design Managers across the team.

  • Evangelize best Design practices to other Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years leading product designers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Bold vision and passion for great Design.

  • Familiar with all the current UI and UX patterns on iOS, Android, and the web.

  • Experience directing both the visual and interaction design of projects, across both web and mobile platforms.

  • A rigorous User Centered Design process, and a deep appreciation for quality and consistency.

  • A history of hiring and coaching Senior level design talent in fast paced companies.

  • Experience running Design teams, and collaborating effectively with Engineering Managers and Product leaders.
