What You’ll Do:

We believe passion and personality matter; as such, we need leaders that can manage diverse, smart, and driven engineers while balancing day to day people management with moving the business forward both technically and culturally.

You will manage a team of Software and Systems Engineers tasked with taking Twitter’s infrastructure to the next level.  This means developing innovative and unique solutions to software and integration problems that only exist at Twitter scale.  
 

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You possess the technical experience and hands-on technical skills to partner with team members and be comfortable diving into the fray as needed.

  • You will mentor the professional development of each Engineer by helping them build and execute personal development plans that map to our organization goals. Aggressively recruit and hire talented Engineers.

  • You will give the team the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to their personal and professional success.

  • You will be responsible for the group’s technical strategy and roadmap – creating success metrics in close collaboration with other Engineering and Product Managers.

  • You bring a strong perspective that leads change and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems.

  • You work with tech leads and senior engineers across multiple teams and orgs to gather system requirements, gut check new feature proposals, and drive large system improvements.

 

Who You Are:

  • You have 5+ years of software support, reliability, or operations engineering experience.

  • You have 3+ years of successful software engineering management experience in a technical leadership role, managing a team of at least eight engineers.

  • You have previous ownership responsibility for business critical production systems, in a collaborative business environment (contract operations management, or ownership of only lab and test management systems is not sufficient).

  • You have the ability to work in a dynamic and hyper growth work environment.

  • You are capable of leading a discussion with upper management, helping them make data driven decisions.

  • You have the ability to thrive in a high-pressured but highly customer oriented environment.

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred

Engineering Hiring Process

Step 1

Once your application is received, a recruiter will reach out pending your qualifications are a match for the role.

Step 2

If your background is a match, you may have 1-2 technical phone interviews or be given the chance to provide a work sample depending on the role.

Step 3

If the phone interviews go well or your work sample is strong, the final step includes interviews with 5-6 people held onsite in our office.
