EMEA Counsel, Ireland (Dublin)

 You'll be responsible for a wide range of legal and contract-related matters throughout the region. You’ll work on important legal and commercial matters between Twitter and its partners, customers, advertisers, vendors, employees and users.

You'll work closely with Legal team colleagues in EMEA, US and Worldwide, as well as with Twitter’s business leaders and supporting functions including, Finance, Sales, HR, Public Policy and a variety of other teams, advising on legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to Twitter’s businesses in the region. You will be required to work independently as well as part of various teams and take on projects in addition to the ‘day job’. We're looking for a highly motivated lawyer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with broad, generalist responsibilities, but with specialist legal subject matter skills in Commercial law with good knowledge of media and data protection law. You'll need to bring negotiation and drafting smarts, business sense and a good personality because you'll be dealing with multiple functional teams in a rapidly scaling business. Ideally you have worked in-house in the advertising, technology, or new media space handling a variety of legal matters, including sales related contracts and associated commercial issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal support to the Dublin and EMEA regional based business teams primarily focused on sales and business development.

  • Reviewing, negotiating and drafting sales, partner, supplier, contractor and other commercial agreements that comply with company policies and risk tolerance. Supporting strategic initiatives as required.

  • Identifying and contributing to templates, tools and processes on a global basis to improve efficiencies and support fast-growing business clients’ needs at scale.

  • Helping to enforce advertising, user safety, legal and other policies working with various teams.

  • Supporting various cross-cultural teams throughout the company, including Sales, Advertising Operations, Procurement, Finance, Trust & Safety, and Facilities.

  • Advising on various other EMEA regional legal matters, including intellectual property, privacy, content regulation, consumer protection, safety and advertising laws and regulations, depending on desire, aptitude and needs of the business.


  • The candidate should have between 5 -  8 years relevant post-qualification experience as a qualified EU attorney supporting local and distributed sales teams, functions and business leaders and policy makers.

  • Experience at providing timely and helpful commercial and legal guidance for an internet, technology, media or mobile based company.

  • Prior in-house or secondment experience working for a fast-paced and fast-growing United States-based multinational technology company strongly preferred.

  • Strong IT literacy is a plus.

  • Aptitude and willingness to take on legal and policy-related matters; entrepreneurial mindset; flexible, self-starting and hard working.

  • Comfortable working with ambiguity in a company experiencing rapid growth.

  • Demonstrated sound business judgment.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects under tight deadline pressure.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be fluent in English and fluency in other European languages (preferably French or German is desirable but not essential). LLB degree (or equivalent) with strong academic record and professional legal qualification.
