Come join Twitter’s growing global Compliance team.

You will report to the Director of Compliance on the Legal Team and will be based in our San Francisco Headquarters. You will take the lead on building out our data compliance monitoring, audit and enforcement program for Twitter’s Data and Enterprise Solutions Business, including our public APIs, to help ensure that Twitter data is being used in a manner consistent with Twitter policies. You will work closely with Legal, Trust & Safety, our Data and Enterprise Solutions business, User Services and other teams involved in managing our data relationships.    

We're looking for an experienced professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with broad responsibilities including:

  • Build out and enhance methodologies to test and proactively identify API abuse and the violation of data and API policies and approved use cases.  

  • Develop and implement a plan for monitoring compliance with data and API policies by higher risk data customers and public API users.

  • Conduct searches, gather data and record evidence from internal systems, the internet, commercial databases and enquiry within the organization. Gather supportive information from internal and external public and private databases based on global standard process.

  • Utilize test account access and other tools to view and test the products of high risk customers and spot check identified use cases for compliance with Twitter policies.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and tools for conducting investigations of alleged policy or use case violations, developing new tools and processes to facilitate investigations as appropriate.

  • Develop an audit plan to follow up on clear evidence of policy or use case violations, conduct internal audits and oversee independent third party audits.

  • Gather facts from investigations to be utilized in presentations to senior management.

  • Work with colleagues in Legal, User Services and Trust & Safety to take action in a consistent and principled manner against abusers.

  • Periodically assess the effectiveness of the data customer onboarding process and propose improvements to ensure use cases receive appropriate level of review.

  • Provide periodic metrics and reporting on compliance and enforcement efforts

  • Outstanding oral, written and presentation communication skills

  • Strong influencing skills and a great team player, able to engage with high performance teams and colleagues in different functions and at different levels in the company

  • Forward-thinking and strategic, looking not only at what will work now, but what will work 3 or 5 or more years from now


  • Basic familiarity with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), OAuth, and similar or related data protocols.

  • Experience with quickly and efficiently collecting, organizing, and reviewing large amounts of data, including through use of SQL is desirable.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of work experience

  • Experience working in technology preferred

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent required
