The Position

Twitter seeks an experienced, business savvy litigator to join its Litigation, Regulatory, and Competition Team.. This team provides strategic counsel to the company on a wide range of litigation, regulatory, and competition matters around the world.  You will partner in projects and initiatives that influence all aspects of the business - driving customer-focused, practical, and proactive legal guidance.  You must bring exceptional legal judgment, as well as creativity, to your daily role.  You should have a track record of collaborating and thriving in a fast-paced team environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee a portfolio of highly complex litigation, regulatory, and competition matters, including commercial, employment, platform liability, copyright, and privacy matters.  
  • Manage outside counsel, including selecting, budgeting, and evaluating counsel,  in devising and implementing successful legal strategies.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a global team that responds to pre-litigation, and litigation threats around the world.
  • Provide legal advice and support to internal teams across the company on litigation risk and litigation-related processes. 
  • Solve problems and drive a culture of evaluating calculated and informed risks, starting from a place of “yes”.
  • Approach matters with a business perspective and a deep understanding of Twitter’s goals when finding solutions.

  • You build strong and long-term relationships of trust and influence with stakeholders across the company.


  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • 7+ years of legal experience, government, and/or law firm litigation experience preferred, including experience litigating in state and/or federal courts.  
  • Specialized knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: 
    • employment litigation,
    • commercial litigation, with emphasis on consumer class actions and/or privacy cases, 
    • platform liability issues, Section 230, and the First Amendment,
    • securities litigation, or
    • international litigation in the European Union, United Kingdom and/or the Asia-Pacific region.  
  • Experience engaging with regulators, including States AG, FTC, DOJ, and global data protection or consumer protection authorities.
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 4 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Tier A: USD $212,000 - USD $297,000
  • Tier B: USD $202,000 - USD $282,000
