Senior Legal Counsel - Product

The Position

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice to Twitter’s product group and engineering teams focusing on personalization, interests, creators, ads, and international expansion. The product groups you will support build features and products that increase engagement on Twitter by connecting users with more of the content they want to see;
  • Help build scalable and effective processes for providing legal input to clients on strategic product initiatives;
  • Partner with other leaders on the Legal and Public Policy teams, exhibiting a deep understanding of how Twitter products work and how their evolution is influenced by global laws;
  • Work alongside our engineering teams as they build new and innovative products for Twitter;
  • Work collaboratively across multiple functions, including Legal, Engineering, Trust & Safety, Policy, and Business Development;
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant U.S. and international laws and regulations, especially those related to privacy, intellectual property, content regulation, consumer protection, and advertising, among others.

 

    Qualifications

    • 10+ years of legal experience is preferred in areas covering privacy, consumer protection, and content regulation law; We don’t expect every candidate to have experience in each field, but some combination thereof;
    • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas in a succinct and impactful manner;
    • Bar admission or equivalent and in good standing to practice law in your relevant jurisdiction.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Regulatory and in-house experience is preferred but not required;
    • Solution-oriented, customer service, and growth mindset - You welcome diverse perspectives and engage problems with curiosity;
    • Ability to integrate into cross-functional teams with a cooperative and participatory approach;
    • Experience as an in-house adviser for consumer platforms in the social media sector, dealing with issues related to personalization and data protection;
    • A working understanding of current and emerging privacy laws (CCPA, GDPR, ePrivacy Directive), as well as an understanding of evolving platform (iOS, Android) user privacy rules.

    The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 4 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

    • Tier A: USD $212,000 - USD $297,000
    • Tier B: USD $202,000 - USD $282,000
    • Tier C: USD $191,000 - USD $267,000
