HITL Content Specialist Lead, Curation

The Position

We are looking for an editorial & technical specialist who can bring humans and algorithms together to build extraordinary products. If you have a deep appreciation for content, and can also structure or classify content in innovative ways, then let's talk! 

This role can be remote in the UK/US or located in our London/New York/San Francisco offices.

The ideal candidate will have an impressive background in designing HITL ML systems, preferably involving content discovery, structured content, and recommendations. They will have a proven record of working with editorial, product, design, and engineering teams to achieve technological breakthroughs that accelerate launches or deepen product impact; a thorough knowledge of social media and Twitter; and substantial experience leading projects throughout an organization.

This is a high-level strategic role offering a rare opportunity to redefine how information is organized and contextualized on the world’s most influential social media platform.

Success in this role is measured by:

  • Designing and coordinating high-impact HITL processes for multiple features and content types, and across cross-functional lines 

  • Influencing and executing a long-term strategy for success

  • Identifying new work streams and ambitious team projects

  • Developing a diverse project portfolio that drives product impact

  • Building a repository of structured content that can fuel multiple Curation work streams for many years


  • Serve as a team lead who can advise and unblock teammates, often on multiple projects at the same time

  • Strongly influence Curation’s HITL content strategy, with emphasis on structuring multiple content formats, crafting the best data schemas, and designing effective tooling

  • Model a positive approach that produces creative solutions as strategic priorities inevitably evolve

  • Supervise and drive team goals while also identifying new opportunities for team investment

  • Communicate team progress effectively and engagingly, particularly in leadership settings

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders as part of a distributed team


  • MA/MSc degree or equivalent experience

  • Written and verbal fluency in English; other languages a plus

  • Proficiency in the architecture of HITL ML systems, either in media or other industries

  • Highly effective in collaborating with PMs and/or ML engineers in defining frameworks and novel approaches that drive deeper understanding of media and content

  • Extensive experience using automated or semi-automated tools on content curation products or platforms, resulting in stronger metrics or other positive outcomes

  • The ability to explore and parse large amounts of data in a variety of methods or tools, to arrive at key insights that drive innovative work

  • Highly capable of leading projects end-to-end, and socializing team successes and outcomes at leadership levels
