Staff Software Engineer - Capacity Engineering

The Position

Who we are:

Our team is focused on building services and automation that bring consistency and predictability to the Capacity lifecycle at Twitter. Our goal is to build a uniform interface for Capacity Management. We build intelligent systems that ensure capacity availability and improve utilization.

What You’ll Do: 

We are looking for technical leaders to help build the foundational services for capacity automation at Twitter. You will collaborate with service teams, supply, finance, platform and data center operations to dive deep into the current state. As a technical leader  you will drive design decisions and help shape the roadmap for the team. You will lead by example by building systems and services that are scalable and operationally efficient.


Who you are:

  • You have a demonstrated product minded approach across multiple successful projects.
  • You possess a diverse skill set covering most of full stack development, user interfaces, data analysis and visualization, data pipelines, and relational databases.
  • You enjoy collaboration both within a team and with other teams and have a track record of partnering with diverse teams on cross-functional projects.
  • Experience with capacity planning either at the individual service or platform level would be desirable but it is not required.
  • Some experience with data analysis and statistical modeling would be helpful.


  • 10+ years of relevant experience working at a Sr. Software Engineer capacity working in large distributed systems, including 2+ years at a Staff Software Engineer level.
  • Previous experience guiding and mentoring teams
  • Recent experience spearheading design solutions for critical businesses needs.
  • Strong backend development experience with a solid foundation in data pipelines, distributed systems, and large-scale data processing .
  • Proficiency with Scala, Java, or C/C++ required.
