The Twitter @Policy team focuses on public policy issues posed by the continuing spread of digital technology and web-based communications services around the world. These issues range from freedom of expression, online safety, intellectual property, copyright, privacy, and the open Internet. The @Policy team also manages and directs Twitter’s corporate social responsibility work in the markets we serve. Our #TwitterforGood efforts involve working directly with NGOs and academia active in the areas of digital inclusion, freedom of expression, online safety and security, women and minorities in tech, emergency services/disaster recovery, and countering violent extremism.

We’re looking for an exceptional individual to join the regional @Policy team for a 6-month full-time paid program. As a Twitter Public Policy Fellow you will assist in the development of public policy solutions to pressing high technology issues that affect Twitter and the people who use our service in Asia.

Job description


  • Monitor public policy issues of importance to Twitter in Asia markets;

  • Conduct research into tech policy issues;

  • Assist in the preparation of briefings and materials for engagement with policymakers, regulators, lawmakers and non-profit partners;

  • Help identify opportunities to ensure that key government, political and civil society representatives understand Twitter;

  • Coordinate with Twitter colleagues across teams and provide updates on policy developments; and,

  • Work with NGOs bolstering Twitter’s engagement and partnerships such as #FridayforGood days of service, our pro bono “Ads for Good” program and other corporate social responsibility initiatives.


Skills and Experience:

  • We are looking for fellows who may be in, or have recently completed graduate school in the areas of public policy, law, foreign policy, communications or related fields. Exceptional undergraduate-level fellows will also be considered.

  • Able to work full-time.

  • You’ll need a keen interest in Twitter and ideally, proficiency on the platform.

  • Reasonable fluency in technology and a passion for the power of communications to change the world for the better.

  • Knowledge of politics, public policy formulation, high tech issues, as well as an understanding of government processes are key requirements for this role.

  • You should be highly organised, disciplined and self-driven. Attention to detail, professionalism, willingness to learn and timely completion of tasks are key.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of G-Suite tools & applications and other presentation programs.

  • Additional Asian language skills for the Singapore, China, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand markets are a strong plus. 

  • A sense of humor.
