The Creation and Conversations (C&C) Design Team focuses on enabling meaningful, engaging, and healthy conversations on Twitter. Conversations about what’s happening now are what people come to Twitter for everyday. The team also works to unlock ways to spark new conversations on the platform through the release of new formats, tools, and conversation mechanics. Whether you’re crafting the next viral Tweet, or you’re jumping in on a heated discussion in the replies, the C&C Design Team is the team that helps make it all possible. 

Job description

As a Design Manager you are a design leader that knows how to have impact on product roadmaps while also driving and inspiring a team of direct reports towards success. You mentor and bring out the best in your team by creating opportunities, eliminating roadblocks, and inspiring creativity.  

You’ll be responsible for managing a focused team of designers within the Creation & Conversations (C+C) team. You’ll have oversight over key areas such as developing new expressive formats and conversational mechanics, as well as uncovering more ways to ensure safe and healthy conversation on Twitter. You will empower designers across the organization, helping to improve the experience for our customers. You will work closely with design strategists, researchers, product designers and design engineers to deliver designs that impact the product experience.

Recommended qualifications include:

  • 4+ years experience in people management. Proven success helping source and grow talent within a large organization. Proven success is delivering strategy and design solutions and enabling your team to do so as well.

  • Experience in defining problems spaces, crafting innovative solutions and inspiring teams to think differently

  • Develop and drive new strategies along with product managers, design leadership, research and data science 

  • Experience working on multi-platform digital product design for global audiences.

  • A hunger and appetite to run towards the most ambiguous and challenging problems and are inspired to approach them from all angles. Strong proponent of being generative and iIterative in your approach and are open to being wrong and pivoting when necessary

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong ability to influence cross-functionally

  • Expert being a design lead who leads large projects and direct/mentor other designers

  • Passion for identifying and solving customer problems

  • Comfort in a fast-paced, highly-dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent communication and presentations skills

  • Comfortable presenting and working with senior executives
