Policy Domain Specialist, Misinformation (Singapore)

Company description

Who We Are

Twitter’s Site Integrity team works on the cutting edge of issues that affect the internet today — from combating spam and computational propaganda, to building new tools to keep the world informed during major events. We innovate, experiment, and move at a fast pace. As part of Twitter’s Trust & Safety department, we’re committed to being a learning organization with a growth mindset, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our policies and ourselves.

Job description

What You’ll Do

As a misinformation policy specialist, you’ll research, draft, and implement policies covering all aspects of misinformation and related issues impacting the integrity of conversations on Twitter — from deepfakes and synthetic media, to protecting the integrity of elections and civic processes, to combating false narratives on public health topics. For this role, we’re looking for someone who cares deeply about how misinformation manifests and propagates in the  APAC, MENA, and/or LATAM regions.

You’ll work closely with colleagues in the Site Integrity and Safety Policy teams, as well as Twitter’s Product and Engineering organizations, to craft a holistic approach to misinformation-related issues across product, policy, investigations, and enforcement. You’ll also act as the primary Trust & Safety point of contact in APAC for high-level escalations involving misinformation and lead rapid response efforts by teams across the company to prevent the virality and proliferation of abuse on  Twitter around critical public events.

Who You Are

  • You have a deep understanding of online safety, privacy, and freedom of expression, with specific experience in mis- and disinformation issues in the APAC, MENA, and/or LATAM regions.

  • You understand human rights frameworks and are passionate about the intersection between human rights and misinformation.

  • You are passionate about understanding and combating threats to online conversational health, and aren’t afraid of tackling high-impact problems at massive scale.

  • You have a proven track record of owning and successfully completing cross-functional projects from planning to implementation.

  • You have exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.

  • You build and cultivate healthy relationships with cross-functional partners and keep stakeholders informed and engaged.

  • You are humble, curious, and a fast learner who brings positivity and a solution-focused attitude to all tasks.

  • You work well under pressure, and can promptly engage with new and complex problems to identify and implement solutions.

  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and adapting to the needs and work styles of other teams and organizations.

  • 5+ years experience working on relevant issues (safety, security, and/or content policy), preferably at an internet or technology company.

  • BA/BS or equivalent professional experience.

Note: this role involves potential exposure to sensitive or graphic content, including but not limited to vulgar language, violent threats, pornography, and other graphic images.
