Who We Are
Part of Twitter’s Engineering Effectiveness organization, the Language Tools team is making sure our developers have the tools necessary to iterate fast and produce high quality code. At the core of this mission is the IDE, Integrated Development Environment. Our team is in charge of providing a first class IDE experience for engineers at Twitter. We strive for the IDE experience to be fast and fully featured, allowing engineers to be more productive.
What You’ll Do
Own and drive the direction of the IDE experience for Twitter engineers.
Collaborate with Twitter engineers to understand their usage and needs from an IDE.
Support and enhance IDE’s such as IntelliJ, Android Studio, Xcode, and others.
Work on open source IDE plugins like Twitter’s IntelliJ Pants plugin: https://github.com/pantsbuild/intellij-pants-plugin.
Support the diverse needs of IDE’s at Twitter for engineers using: Scala, Java, Python, C++, Kotlin, Objective C, and Swift.
Integrate the IDE experience with the latest technologies such as the Language Server Protocol (LSP) and Build Server Protocol (BSP).
Work collaboratively with a team in an Agile and CI/CD environment.

Previous experience working on or building plugins for an IDE such as: IntellIiJ, Visual Studio Code (VS Code), Android Studio, or X Code.
A engineering polyglot who can empathize with the diverse needs of the Twitter engineering community.
Model of software engineering best practices, including agile development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
Strong computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures background.
Minimum 3+ years industry experience.
Bachelors or higher in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Engineering Hiring Process
Once your application is received, a recruiter will reach out pending your qualifications are a match for the role.
If your background is a match, you may have 1-2 technical phone interviews or be given the chance to provide a work sample depending on the role.
If the phone interviews go well or your work sample is strong, the final step includes interviews with 5-6 people held onsite in our office.
