Intern London 2019 - Media Client Infrastructure
Intern @ Twitter - Media Client Infrastructure
Duration: 3 months (possibility of extension)
Location: Piccadilly Circus, London, UK
Who we are
The Media Client Infrastructure team in London builds, improves and maintains the core video player library for the Twitter & Periscope apps. We optimise video playback end-to-end: looking at how video is uploaded to Twitter, how it is encoded, and then streamed to our mobile apps.
Our team members have diverse backgrounds ranging from video playback and encoding expertise to theoretical machine learning research and low-level compute optimization on both mobile and server architectures.
We have regular social team activities and the Twitter UK office is hosting many industry events, meet-ups and gatherings.
Who you are
You are passionate about solving hard problems that affect our users around the world. You have an eye for detail, display team qualities and are enthusiastic to take on new problems related to video playback in the Twitter apps. You are curious to learn about video streaming and associated problems and technologies.
You will also have some familiarity and aptitude for learning programming languages. We will both challenge and support you to do the best work during your time here.
What you will do / Responsibilities
You will learn how we make video streaming work for the scale of Twitter. Think of a video going viral on New Year’s Eve, getting played millions of times across the whole globe.
Interning with us will give you the chance to develop strong skills and experience in scientific experimentation & analysis, coding & code reviews through participation on the team.
In our team, you will collaborate with people across the company, all across the globe and be part of our international Twitter family. #LoveWhereYouWork
