Software Engineer - Storage & Messaging
Who We Are:
Twitter’s globally distributed, real-time communications network generates trillions of events and petabytes of data per day. The Blob Storage team is responsible for storing all photos, videos, and static assets that are served by Twitter with a latency guarantee to enable real-time communication and collaboration.
What You’ll Do:
You will be responsible for contributing to and helping guide the future of our blob storage system that holds petabytes of data for hundreds of millions of Twitter users as they connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. You will balance the competing needs of cost, complexity, and latency in order to solve Twitters unique value prop of being both low latency and extremely high fan out - a single Tweet may need to be distributed to 100M users around the world in real time. Future directions include enabled ML over the data stored in blobstore, for scenarios such as recommendations, abuse detection, and anomaly correlation.
Who You Are:
You enjoy new challenges and are passionate about continually pushing the envelope of scale. You take satisfaction in building resilient, high-performance, and thoroughly tested systems that can power the most business-critical applications. You want to learn, work with, and contribute to cutting-edge open-source technologies.
The ideal candidate has experience with distributed storage systems such as S3, Dynamo, GCS, BigTable, Cassandra. Candidates who have experience with distributed systems and can demonstrate knowledge of storage concepts such as partitioning, replication, eventual consistency are highly desirable.
