Mission Critical Engineer Manager to provide technical management of the Twitter MCE Team responsible for management of our data center facilities, leases, leasehold improvements, budgeting and planning for growth and strategy.


Who We Are

Mission Critical Engineering is a team of mechanical, electrical and other engineering disciplines who work with Twitter service providers to ensure operational uptime of the operating buildings where Twitter hardware resides. This includes incident management and oversight of operators practices including quarterly business reviews and management of contract negotiations.  


What You'll Do

Manage the team and budgets for expansion of the data center facilities to support operations.
Work closely with site operations and hardware engineering teams to schedule projects and resource plan for workflow. Support the development and repair cycles for the teams within the Data Center Engineering department.
Manage vendors, data center providers, service providers and contracts that Twitter executes with respect to the operation of the data centers. Requires management of budget and reporting.
Work with other Infrastructure Engineering teams to execute large strategy projects. Example: support the expansion of the Clos Network topology to support the increased bandwidth required with new 25G hosts and 100G TORs.
Manage team OKRs, goals, and priorities to direct the effective execution of work. Report to cadence meetings and collaborate with IE managers for work and execution.


Who You Are

Experienced manager with a comprehensive understanding of the operations of data center providers, POP providers, deployments and budgets associated with data center operations.
Excellent written communications around long term project planning and delivery of final solution.
Dynamic person who can lead a team and gain trust of those working around you.


Experience in management of service providers and negotiations of contracts for data center operations
Experienced in building and managing within budgets for annual spend for data center operations
Experienced in the understanding of data center operations and able to manage teams during incident management
Experience in people management and interested in taking additional coursework at Twitter for management process and skills at Twitter
