Security Manager, Japan & Korea (Tokyo)



Reporting to the Senior Regional Manager, Corporate Security APAC, the Security Manager, Japan & Korea will lead security operations within the Asia Pacific region primarily focused on Japan and South Korea. Twitter is seeking an experienced security manager with a proven track record of effective and strategic leadership, either with former government or Corporate Security experience.



  • Develop an innovative Regional Security Operations model, focusing on key objectives, team goals and staffing

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Regional Security Program including Regional Operations and Physical Security teams, focusing on Twitter facilities, travel safety and emergency preparedness programs

  • Communicate openly, listen effectively, lead the development of an open and respectful work culture within the Corporate Security team to effectively manage relationships with all stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain robust standards, oversee policy, training and procedure implementation

  • Identify valued service providers, manage vendor programs, and evaluate service quality

  • Proactively develop regional response capabilities including monitoring and assessing potential risks to ensure overall business continuity

  • Focus on communication including timely dissemination and assessment of information within the Corporate Security team and to key stakeholders  

  • Liaise with Corporate Security business partners and stakeholders concentrating on building dynamic working relationships

  • Identify key areas for improvement, lead development of regional performance indicators, and collaborate with Global & Regional teams in the development of key Corporate Security metrics

  • Lead people development within the Regional Security team

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to identify and evaluate challenges that carry potential risk to the staff and the business

  • Develop and maintain key partnerships and contacts within professional security networks to effectively leverage these relationships


  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Minimum 5 years experience in state or federal government law enforcement or military, non-governmental organization (NGO), or international high tech corporate security leadership role

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely in both technical and non-technical styles

  • Knowledge and experience in emergency/crisis management, physical security, risk management and business continuity

  • Regional expertise with the ability to speak, communicate and write in both Japanese and English

  • Willingness and ability to travel at short notice on behalf of Twitter Corporate Security

  • Knowledge of security technologies including CCTV, Access Control Systems and analytical software

  • Solution focused, proactive problem solver

  • Experience in vendor management with ability to identify professional strategic partners within a defined budget
