We will build applications for our users, partners, and team. Those applications can range from mission-critical internal tools to the core architecture of twitter.com and our mobile website, with opportunities to work with a variety of languages and technologies
Who Are You: Job Requirements
You have significant technical experience and expertise in more than one of the following areas: development and delivery of distributed systems, engineering platforms or design and engineering of significant, consumer-facing products
Have established a technical strategy and roadmap previously, successfully setting key performance metrics in close collaboration with other Engineering and Product Managers
You can clearly articulate desired outcomes and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems
You have previously managed a team size of 3-5 engineers and have 3+ years of management experience in a software environment.
Have experience in large scale distributed systems architecture and working at scale with real time consumer facing applications.
Have excellent communication skills and can demonstrate having collaborated with tech leads and senior engineers, Product Managers, Designers and other disciplines to deliver
Ability to gather product & business requirements, gut checks new ideas and proposals. Proven track record establishing and driving technical advances, reducing tech debt and making significant improvements in systems
Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or Statistics background.
Bonus points if you have experience doing hands-on work in at least one discipline of backend systems, distributed systems, client engineering or data science

Mentor the professional development of each direct report through personal and performance management
Give engineers the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to the recognition of your engineers and team
Initiate collaboration with Reliability Engineering, Product, and Design to develop high quality focused solutions (and inspire your team to independently do the same)
Ensure the team fully understands the goals and objectives of Twitter as a company and how their work fits into the bigger picture

Engineering Hiring Process
Once your application is received, a recruiter will reach out pending your qualifications are a match for the role.
If your background is a match, you may have 1-2 technical phone interviews or be given the chance to provide a work sample depending on the role.
If the phone interviews go well or your work sample is strong, the final step includes interviews with 5-6 people held onsite in our office.
